Skateboard Photographer

"While these people have, on the surface, an expression of pity or sadness or curiosity, looking at the legless guy on a skateboard," he says, "at the same time, they're opening themselves up; they're incredibly vulnerable." Click here to watch the video.

Complete Cardiel

Okay.
All sixteen part's of Epicly Later'd's John Cardiel documentary are up at vbs.tv.
I'd suggest starting with Part 1 and watching it all the way through to the end. It's about 90 minutes and the most inspiring and insightful look at a skateboarding life that I've ever seen. Ever.

The Skateboard Mag will be having a contest in issue #51 (next month) where we'll be giving away six John Cardiel kits. Each winner will get three pairs of each Vans-Syndicate/Pendleton shoe, an Anti-Hero John Cardiel board, Spitfire John Cardiel wheels, and of course a DVD of the full-length John Cardiel documentary. Copies of issue #51 should be in skateshops around the end of April, so get there and get yours.
In the mean time, please do yourself a favor and watch this whole film.
It's skateboarding — exactly and perfectly.

Get Awesome

Today, March 10, is International Day of Awesomeness. It is also Chuck Norris' birthday. So, if you are feeling sad today, stop being sad and get awesome instead. It is also a good idea to tell everyone about International Day of Awesomeness. Announce it in meetings, have a special moment with your kids when you pick them up from school, high five the parking garage guy, or play guitar while wearing an adidas jacket and nike gloves or something. Anyway, do whatever defines your awesomeness today. And let everyone know. Stay awesome!

garfield minus garfield

"Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb."

Tour d'Afrique

Old friend of Good Problem, Brian Vernor, just wrote from the 120 day Tour d'Afrique — a bike race / expedition from Cairo, Egypt, to Cape Town, South Africa.

He's a few weeks into it with many, many more to come, and you can read about some of his experiences and see some of his photos at VeloNews.
